MAPS

I love maps. Old maps, street maps, maps of the world, cities, or countries. I got this from my mom who has some very cool antique map prints. I'll have to snap some photos next time I go home to my parents house. Geography and history are two major aspects of art that keep me interested and curious.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

This is another obsession of mine and something I grew up on that never got old. Whenever I see vintage Wizard of Oz items, I can't resist. I recently found one of the original editions of the book at the Rose Bowl flea market. Had to have it. Yesterday I found die cut notecards with the original looking illustrations on them. Had to have those too. In December 2005 Annie did the Wizard of Oz photo shoot for Vogue. My favorite photo from this shoot is with Chuck Close as the Wizard. He's an amazing photorealist who creates larger than life paintings. To collaborate with him on this project was genius. Not to mention all the fashion icons scattered throughout.

Wonderland

I've always been obsessed with Alice in Wonderland. Something about falling down that rabbit hole made me wish I was Alice.

Naturally when I learned about Annie Leibovitz's photo shoot a few years back in the December 2003 issue of Vogue, I kept it in in my personal and permanent archives. Love.

Home sweet Hinsdale

I took this photo of my aunt's backyard when I was home last weekend for my brother's wedding. I love being home because I can go downtown to the big bad city and then relax in the sweet, quiet suburbs.

Banksy

When I was in school for Art Education I created a lesson plan about graffiti. Recently I was digging through old files and found images from this mysterious but well known graffiti artist. Banksy displays his often humorous work all over the world playing off political and social problems.

Here is one of Banksy's 9 images that he created on the Palestinian side of the West bank barrier back in 2005.

In April, Time magazine named Banksy one of its most influential people.

Thinking big outdoor

Check out this 3D outdoor projection advertisement from Samsung. My friend from work shared this with me. I thought it was a meaningful and innovative way to use technology especially since it is Samsung.

Tennis anyone?

Whenever I travel with my friend, Brittany, we always try to find the the tallest point of interest in order to get the best view possible. If I ever find myself in Dubai I'll be sure to check out the court at The Burj Al Arab. Aside from the crowds and construction, I'm a sucker for modern architecture as well as the desert. I think I will keep this city on my 'To do' list for now.
